Make it, Wear it!

Two weeks and 3 days, not bad!

I've been knitting myself into a froth lately and quite enjoying it.  You might remember I wrote recently about making Gudrun Johnston's Levenwick along with my best bub, Cynthia?  Not only did I finish this in record time, but I love it!  What a super well written and easy to follow pattern this turned out to be.

The yarn seems to be holding up OK for a vintage acrylic and the fit is pretty great.  I wish this was a little longer, but I say that about every sweater I make.  Somehow now matter what, I always end up a few inches short.  I'm gonna be super careful about laundering this one and hopefully it won't end up in the dryer like so many of them have.

One day soon, I'll tell you the story about my gigantic vintage yarn stash.

Knitting sweaters can be such a crap-shoot, because even when you carefully try on as you go, things often go wonky anyway, and you end up with a turd.  While this sweater might not be my style through and through (I'm clashy more than classy), I'm really happy with how it came out. 

Plus it's warm!  Warmth is one of the biggest motivators for making my own sweaters.  Vegan sweaters are SO HARD to find, and then often they're from sweatshops, not my style or fit me weird.  Some things must be taken into your own hands, plus this saves me from shopping.  Shopping sucks.

I made this dress, too!  Last year just before Vida Vegan, 'cuz I wanted something cute to wear to the gala!  It's Colette Patterns "Rooibos" designed by my masterful friend Sarai.  Sorry it's so hidden in these pictures, but the pattern's a complete gem!  I've made about ten of them in the last year alone.
