| Not sure I got the halves right. The meat half could be on the right... |
I'm here to tell you about an important milestone in my life, something I've been waiting to declare for a long while now. You might not think it's as exciting as a first tattoo, or front row seats to see Lil Wayne, but if you were in my shoes, you'd understand how pretty fuckin' awesome it is. In fact, I hope it happens to all of you, too (and I'm not talkin' about menopause, either).
I've been vegan half my life. And, starting next month, I've been vegan MORE than half my life.
It's actually one of the coolest things about getting older, 'cuz
the more I age, the more vegan-me reigns over former-animal-eating-me.
I'm trying to think of a really amazing way I can celebrate these past 22 years to benefit our animal friends. But while I'm mulling over my options, I thought I'd give away a copy of Papa Tofu Loves Ethiopian Food. It's been ages since the last one.

| Get on it. This is your last opportunity! |
This giveaway is open worldwide, and it expires one week from today. Just leave me a comment!
If you already own a copy, you could always gift one away, or, hold onto a second copy as a backup, since I'm not sure there will be another edition once I sell through my current inventory.

Anyone else veganversary-ing this month? If so, I'm sharing this diddy with you, sung to me by my dearest bub, Dave $, on my 18th year. I could watch this over and over and over again X 948,048,904,809.

Congrats, Kittee! And damn I would love to make some ethiopian food.
ReplyDeleteMy veganniversary is in January, and for me it will be 13 years-- approaching half my life! :)
Congratulations! I look forward to getting to that point in my own life. My only regret is that I didn't go vegan sooner.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to nab a copy of Papa Tofu Loves Ethiopian food. I've never actually made any and am super-excited because I'll be having it for the first time in January when I travel to DC and my sweetie takes me to some of the great Ethiopian places there.
That is exciting! Mine won't be until my 32 birthday. Eight more years to go.
ReplyDeleteI would be so happy to have a copy of your cookbook. I L.O.V.E ethiopian food, and have only tried cooking a few dishes in my own kitchen. Congrats on your veganversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy Vegan Anniversary! That is an impressive milestone.
ReplyDeleteIt is ridiculous that I don't own Papa Tofu Loves Ethiopian Food yet but hopefully I am lucky today! Congrats again Kittee!
yay, congratulations! i was super excited when i realized i owned my beloved car for 50% of my life. and now that i can finally figure out fractions i am up to 57%. and it feels good. mammal meat has never passed my lips (well lets not get rude here, you know what i mean). once when i was very little my grandmother tried to feed me a hot dog and i asked my brother if it was meat and he said yes and supposedly i threw it across the room, but i don't remember being that bratty. please enter me in your zine giveaway so i can make some yummy grub.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog and I'd love to win a copy of your zine.
ReplyDeleteI went vegan at 22 as well! Which means another 9 years for me until it's half my life.
ReplyDeleteI've never made Ethiopian food before, which is sad given that it's my favorite food EVER!!!!
Speaking of which, I still need to bring you that Teff, and my Friday afternoon client lives just a few blocks away from you, so I will check in about dropping it off.
yippee!
DeleteThis comment is for Natalie, 'cuz her phone froze up and she couldn't post!
ReplyDeleteSo cool Kittee, I'm nearing my one year mark, it's gonna take me a long time to get to the halfway point, but I'm planning on it! xx Your cookbook looks freaking awesome.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations :D!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought I was cool because I've been vegan for almost 3 years, haha :p
Happy Veganversary. I started being vegan sometime in March 1981, so yes, I've passed the halfway mark, though it took a long time because I'm so damn old. In years, anyway.
ReplyDeleteyou have nine years on me! you are awesome.
DeleteCongrats! How fantastic. Great giveaway- I love Ethiopian & this would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I've got a few years to go before I hit that milestone (okay like 18 years ...), but I'll get there some day :)
ReplyDeleteI have your zine, and I know about a dozen people who would love to get a copy of it. I'd love to have an extra copy to give away!
Happy Vegan Anniversary! :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't remember for the life of me the exact day I went vegan, but I do know it's be about 2 years. Every year your vegan, it just makes you more awesome Kittee! Congratulations!
That is a cool milestone! I have been vegan for like 12-13 years and veg 6 before that! So 1/2 of my life on the v-team!
ReplyDeleteHooray for 50%+ veganism! Thank you for the giveaway; I love Ethiopian food and I'd love to try your recipes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous milestone! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI became vegan quite a bit later in my life than you did, so I'm nowhere near reaching that milestone, but I'm headed there, that's for sure!
Thank you for offering us a chance at winning a copy of your zine. I love Ethiopian food, and would love to try your recipes. Actually, I'm going to get a copy right now, so that I'm sure I get one before you run out, and if I win the copy you're offering here, I totally know someone who will love receiving such a fantastic gift!
Happy Veganversary and Mucho Grande Milestone Status! I love the video song tribute, giant red sneakers too!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Congrats on 22 years of veganism! I've only been vegan for a mere 3 years now, but it seems like forever.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried ethiopian food, but I would love to win a copy of Papa Tofu!
I've been a vegetarian for more than half my life, it's awesome! And I would like to celebrate it with some ethiopian food.
ReplyDeleteYou should be put in frames and shown as an example of a good vegan:) I heard there was a poll conducted that showed that more than 50% of people who become vegan is not able to, for some reason, stick to their choices for the rest of their lives. Seeing that you can do so well is motivating.
ReplyDelete( and I would like a copy of "ethiopian food", of course:))
Happy veganversary!!! many happy returns of the day!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! It will be 12 years for me in Jan. Keep up the great work! Would love to make my fam an Ethiopian feast for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Kittie! Being vegan feels so good. I love the photo above and would love to get my hands on a copy of PTLEF -- I love Ethiopian food, but can only find lame ethiopian recipes online -- they never turn out right, so I've kind of given up!
ReplyDeleteHappy veganversary, kittee! That's such an exciting milestone. I hope to be there someday myself!
ReplyDeleteHappy Vegaversary! I heart Leslie Hall!
ReplyDeleteWowza, oodles and oodles of congratulations to you--just think of all the other-than-human animals' lives you've saved and all the human animals' lives you've enriched over the course of 22 whole years! May you continue on with many more.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Ali.
Congratulations! 12 years vegan for me, another 12 before I'm 50/50 :0) one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I've never looked back... Except to wish I'd gone from vegetarian to vegan sooner!
ReplyDeleteThat is super awesome! I can't wait til that happens for me, I got a awhile but I'm looking forward to eating all kinds of yummy vegan food til I get there. Maybe even some super tasty Ethiopian food!
ReplyDeleteThat is something to smile about! Congratulations :) I became vegan 2 years and 8 months ago when I was just 20 so I've got a way to go..but it truly has been a hugely positive, life-altering choice.
ReplyDeleteWould love to win a copy of your Ethiopian zine- I adore Ethiopian and would love to learn how to make some good dishes.
Congratulations ☆
ReplyDeleteThat's really great, one day i will be able to say that iv'e lived more vegan than not, but it will be somewhere in 2020's ! I have been a vegetarian for 1/3 of life though. Also your bub is super adorable, men look great in skirt :)
Yayyy, congratulations! I'm only 1/3 vegan, but I'm 53% vegetarian. And don't your cells replace every 7 years? So we're actually 100% vegan-celled!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway. I finally found a source of teff so I'm excited to dabble in Ethiopian!
oh, that makes me feel so much more awesome than before! thanks for the into.
DeleteWell done! Ethiopian Food rocks my socks.
ReplyDeleteHappy Veganniversary! I already have a copy but wanted to give you a hip hip hooray!
ReplyDeleteI never thought about it like this; what a great perspective. I'm old, so I've got a long way to go: 13 years vegan, 10 years vegetarian, and the rest saying, "eeew; where did that come from?"
ReplyDeletePS I already have your amazing tome and have gifted it to and/or bullied most of my friends into buying it already ;-)
thank you so much abby bean!
DeleteI have 16 more years to go until i'll have been vegan for most of my life, but i have been vegetarian for 3/4 of my life, which is pretty cool now that i think about it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Kittee!! That is so awesome! I'd love to say that I've been vegan half of my life, but then I'd only be ten now. As it stands, I have to wait until I'm in my 60's to reach the vegan/meat eating days tipping point.
ReplyDeleteHappy vegan-versary! You are my hero [heroine/heroin?]! I was just looking through my blue Papa Tofu yesterday. xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! I already have a copy of 'PTLEF' (I've even used some of the recipes at the restaurant where I work!), but I'd love to win a copy for my friend Sid. :)
ReplyDeleteYay Kittee!!! Congrats! You're such an inspiration :-)
ReplyDeleteWell done you! I am over half my life vegetarian or vegan but still a ways to go where vegan makes up a 1/3. Yay to you!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Kittee, mine & my bf's veganversary will be coming in January, went back to veganism 4 yrs ago as New Yr's resolution & haven't looked back. Been vegetarian for over 20 yrs. Would absolutely love to win a copy, don't have an Ethiopian vegan cookbook. ^_^

DeleteCongratulations! I'm a freshly minted vegan, so this is so inspiring! AND Ethiopian is my favorite food. Even before going vegan/vegetarian, I'd only ever order the non-meat stuff. So delicious!

My Birthday was on the sixth, and I reaffirmed my vegan commitment! It's year number two for me, and I can't wait until the day when I've been vegan half my life. I've already discovered the joys of vegan living as being more affordable, healthier, and kinder to animals. Now I'm reaching out to the community more (Thanks awesome people.) Congrats!!!!
ReplyDeletecongrats to you and your commitment. you're awesome!

ReplyDeletecongrats! i can't wait til I have that milestone. It will be a while, but I'm looking forward to it already.
ReplyDeleteCongrats and many more years of healthy and yummy veganism to come! Celebrated 20 years of vegetarianism last May or June (I go by the Jewish calendar for this day) and a first veganversary in November :)
ReplyDeleteOne of the defining events in the past year was re-discovering Ethiopian/ Eritrean food :)
Thank you for this contest! :) Ethopian food is awesome

ReplyDeleteI have quite a way to go before I get to the 50% mark, but I will definitely get there. :) Congrats on your veganniversary!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I've been vegan most my life at this point. I hardly remember the meat eating days.
ReplyDeleteAh, Kittee Bee, congratulations! I'd love to win this because your recipes are almost as awesome as you are! <3 Xylia
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your veganniversary! Would love to win a copy of the book to broaden my 2 and 3 year olds' vegan cuisine horizons...
ReplyDeleteCongrats kittee! I was just telling Leah Fishbein how much I wish I could meet you in real life. My 3 year veganversary was the day after thanksgiving. Xoxo
ReplyDeleteI would like a zine! Yay food zines. Congratulations on yr many years, here's to healthier ones to come :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It's a great feeling. I've been veg*n for over half my life (vegetarian then vegan). So it's extra fun when you someone who doesn't know you well learns you're veg*n and they say it's a "phase" or "it won't last long, you'll remember you love meat" or any other ridiculousness. Dude, I've been veg*n for for 13 years. Ain't gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. Been vegetarian - vegan on and off for 42 years next February; strictly vegan for 7 years this month. Honored to share December date with you and others; mostly because of all we vegans do for the animals, the planet and ourselves simply by the choices we make daily. And looking forward to making more exciting Ethiopian food from your 'zine. Thanks.
