SMOTM: Sludge Can Be Yummy.

Vee!
Smoothies aren't the best things to indulge in when you're recovering from a respiratory virus like I am--their cold slushiness can be super cough inducing.  But, since I really wanted one today, I chanced fate and chased it down with a big ol' mug of hot water.  Kinda weird, but at least I prevented it from having its way with me.

Also, why are the uglier smoothies always the most delicious?  This one came out a deep dark sludge grey, and yet, it might be the tastiest smoothie ever.  I think the spirulina made it taste magical.

Spirulina is the tastiest, Vee is the handsomest,
and that's unsweetened almond-coconut milk, not almond cocoa milk!
I always use Vega Sport (vanilla) protein powder, 'cuz it's super high in soy-free protein and contains just a tiny bit of stevia, which sweetens my smoothies just the way I like.

See Ya!

  1. I know you posted something about food but all I can see is the ultra cute dog.

    1. He's on the couch next to me sorta snoozing. He's not into shorter days wet days at all. I've spent a few hours today researching flyball classes for him, which I think sounds FUN! But they all have different prerequisites, I don't think will work for him--good recall, crate skills, friendly to people, etc.

      We shall see.

  3. Haha, I was just talking about drinking sludge. It's good for us! Once I get a new blender, it'll be all sludge all the time.

  4. D'awwww, that paw!!!

Hope you're feeling better & can indulge in more smoothies soon w/out the resulting coughs. Your smoothie sounds awesome--I always forget to add a tiny kick of chocolate; need to try the cocoa almond milk sometime soon!

  7. Thank you for kindly labeling your smoothie ingredients around the regal dog pose. Also, you've now inadvertantly started a living room tour and your living room looks just as awesome as your kitchen, if not moreso with the addition of the dog.

  10. Mmmmm sludgey spinachy spirulina... maybe there's some sort of perverse pleasure in consuming something that appears gross that makes it taste even better. I wouldn't be surprised at all.

  11. I'm battling the same sort of ugly cold right now, yet like a fool, I keep making green smoothies every morning. Then I cough my brains out. Good one on the hot water trick!
