Happy Mardi Gras Lil' Buddies!

I went for a long jaunt with Vee this morning, but there was no mambo to be had anywhere. Seriously, If I'd found any I would have skipped home for a vegan Bloody Mary.

To counter the lack of booty shakin' round here, I stitched myself up "My Dream Bag." It might sound like some sort of Barbie accessory, but I promise you, it's more kittee accoutrement, than anything else.

It's the best.
Here's the front. The flap is made from this old double knit polyester that I've been hoarding forever. I reinforced it with fabric stabilizer to make it sturdy. The polka dots are mostly vintage appliques and so is that button.
para mi
Yes, that is a squirrel on a string.

para mi
A zinnia-like flower with more double knit polyester flowers on the bottom.

para mi
The back side has evil bunnies and two pockets to keep my cell phone and receipts organized.

para mi
The inside of the front flap is lined with the most gorgeous turquoise velveteen with lots o' fine top stitching and the interior is filled with even more more pockets.

Just what The Doctor ordered. I have lots more over on Etsy.

  2. Awesome! I think the sides are my favorite, squirrel and flower. This makes me really excited about learning to use a sewing machine this year (one of many goals...). Thanks!

  5. Ah! Amazing!!! The little flower patch on the front reminds me of a Girl Scout badge (not in a bad way!!). I'm heading over to check out your Etsy site right now.

  7. kittee, I can't even believe how talented you are. Barbie wishes she had a bag that dreamy. The bags in your etsy store are adorable (my favorite is the lemons)!

  8. Cool! You are so talented. That's gotta be the best way to make up for the fact that you couldn't be living it up in NOLA this year. I made your king cake recipe again this year. My co-workers devoured it in no time flat. Most said they didn't like most king cake, but they loved yours.

  15. Well you said "a squirrel on a string" but the string is dark in color and coming from the squirrel's butt...
