Behold, my newly attained Goodwill crockpot has arrived. This crockpot is a beauty, too! With many fine attributes: a) It looks brand new. b) It's a lovely 70s orange. c) It's big. Big enough for several pounds of beans if I wish. d) I found an awesome glass lid that fits, so I could chuck the yucky plastic one that came with it. e)The ceramic crock comes out for handy clean-up.
I'm so in love. I broke it in today with my favorite chili. My favorite chili contains no chili powder, only a variety of dried chiles, cumin, onion, roasted veggies (eggplant, zucchini, shiitake mushrooms) and hominy. It's sh-picy.
Oh also--the other day I made really successful and delicious XgfX muffins.

These were adapted from the bakery style muffin recipe in Isa's Vegan Brunch.
- 2/3 cup Bryanna's XgfX flour mix
- 1/3 cup oat flour
- 6 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 cup Vegenaise
- 1/4 cup soy milk, plus extra to get the batter going (mine was too dry without)
- splash canola oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- handful chopped dry cherries (dry fruit review forthcoming)
- handful of vegan fair trade chocolate chips

P.S. I have one Primal Strip left, so let me know if you want it and please live in the United States. Thanks!

19 zulu coconuts:
Yay for your awesome new crock pot! I can just imagine all the lovely tastiness that it will see.
Those muffins look great and I am intrigued by the recipe....maybe today will be a muffin making day!
Conngrats on the crock pot! Your muffins look really stellar! I also made some gf muffins a couple of days ago and couldn't believe how easy it was. I used a gf flour mix I found on Nava Atlas site...but I'm definitely trying Bryanna's as well. GF baking is so much fun.
Gorgeous find, love your lid subs!
I'm so selfishly happy you're doing so much gluten-free shtuff. Now, have you tried that flour for brownies? I have reason to make a batch next weekend...
Well, heck, yeah, I've been watching those primal strips fly out the door all month and I'd love one!
Congrats on the crockpot, it's a beauty! Esp with a real glass lid.
New crock pots are so much fun (and that chili sounds killer)! & hurray for awesome xgfx muffins--I'm going to have to try these out soon.
I love finding something great at Goodwill - especially when it looks as new and spiffy as your crock pot. (I'm wanting one of those.) The muffins look just right and yummy.
Hurrah for the crockpot goodness! I have an old one I think we've outgrown - time to hit Goodwill, myself!
I am lovin' the look of those muffins - I'm motivated to give them a whirl soon, I think - thanks for sharing!
Also - as I'm looking to move to being gluten-free, I'm interested in trying that Primal Strip.
Be well,
i'm in love with your rock'n new crockpot too, kittee! i love the color and that's pretty sweet you found a glass lid to fit it. huzzah!
squeeeeeeeeeeeeee for gluten-free (and xanthan gum free!) chocolate cherry muffin awesomeness! they look perfect & scrumptious & oh-so tasty!
I'll bet the nuts in Bryanna's gluten-free flour were yummy in those muffins. I haven't reintroduced oats yet (I'm kind of scared), but I hope to be using oat flour again in a couple of months. Also, Vegenaise in muffins? Never heard of such a thing.
Enjoy your crockpot. I just inherited an old 70s crockpot myself, but I haven't cleaned it out yet. My favorite dishes and glasses came from Salvation Army; I've bought dishes from fancy home stores since then, and they just don't compare to the $4.99 dish set.
OMG I <3 the crockpot!! Such awesome colors!!
Congrats on the crockpot! One day when I have more room I will have to get one again.
Also, your muffins are gorgeous! I'm going gluten-free for a month and am happy to see gf vegan recipes on my favorite blogs :)
Crock pottery!
I've got a crockpot I picked up at a garage sale, but I've never used it. (Think I misplaced my veggie crockpot cookbook...hmmm..so many cookbooks I can't keep track of 'em.) Whatever the case, hope you post a few crockpot recipes! I need to put that baby to work!

(...and are you still giving away primal strips? guess it's time for me to raise my paw!)

Those muffins look amazing, Kittee! You've inspired me to bust out my crockpot.
gaaah! I need a crock pot badly! Yours is really cool looking.
Sweet muffins.
Love the orange crock pot!
And thanks for the primal strip. I found it in the mailbox of my new house the night we moved in... after the movers showed up 4 hours late--we were f*in starving, and the strip was this tiny shred of light shining though on a hellish day. It was dramatic.
Yay for muffin success! Give us crock pot recipes!
