Who's behind the curtain?

Thank you for your blockbuster responses to the Papa Tofu bday giveaway I posted last week. I was floored to receive so many thoughtful posts, and the best part is that most of you were super-secret lurkers (I'm pretty sure a few of you have been hiding under my bed for the better part of this year). I hope being manipulated to post on my blog upped your vitamin D stores a little bit, since many of you looked extremely pasty. So here's the dealio, I used a random number generator to calculate the winners, and the free zines are going to #13 CanSay and #41 kittypaws. What do you say, deal or no deal!? You two, please send an email to kittee68 at yahoo dot com with your shipping addresses, and I'll mail them out straight away. The rest of y'all, please keep your eyes peeled for more PT giveaways, since I had so much fun reading all of your comments, I'll be sure to do this again soon.

In the meantime, here's some vegan jello I made today.

I started making groceries for the candy sushi for Friday. I picked up all sorts of fruit roll ups and candy, and this fruity gel will be topping some peanut butter rice crispy nigiri. It's the vegan equivalent to Knox blocks, but with fresh peaches added to the mix. Yep, you read that right, I just scored a pint of fresh local peaches from George in October. This is one crazy world down here.

I have Papa Tofu jealousy. If I wasn't so skint I'd put my hand in my pocket and buy one.

  4. I think I'm scared of weeble wobble jello even if it is vegan, but yay for a very spot-on vegan version!

  6. i never was a jello person unless i was really, really sick. when i was, i liked it hot. i am a sucker for what my husband's nanna calls "green salad"--green jello, fruit, and cream cheese made into a delicious mold. have you ever had that? i'm sure it can be veganized.

  8. Kittee! We're in Portland checking it out and we thought we saw Dazee walking down the street (of course it wasn't but we had to look and make sure). Foodwise, pdx is kicking Austin's butt, big time.

    Just wanted to say hi!

  10. I was lurking the page on your site about eating vegan in New Orleans just yesterday! I think I might stop there one night when we move to austin. you'll have to give me some tips on cool places to go, and CHEAP places to stay, considering I'm broke! :)

  11. I'm of two minds whether to get a new copy of papatofu, I have one but I managed to get it soaked in the rain but it's not completely ruined, I can still use it. I hate to waste resources. Oh the decisions! hehe :) Congrats to the winners.
