Nostalgia

Details from a vintage 50s chair and afghan in my living room.

I've been stuck on the couch all weekend due to a fibromyalgia flare and just spent the last few hours reading over my old Live Journal--it made me nostalgic! I think I'd like to branch out from vegan recipes a bit, would reading about bugs on a cooking blog gross everyone out? It's caterpillar season down here, and I really can't help myself--the photo ops beckon me.

A snippet from my Pyrex collection, I just found the coolest blog about collecting Pyrex...

I promise not to post recipes involving caterpillars just interesting photos from the garden and maybe snippets from my life (like the photo above--that fabric and blanket are comprised of my favorite colors). Or maybe shots from my Pyrex collection and pictures of me and Grandma Millie?

The last photo ever taken of the two of us together.

I also miss how interactive Live Journal was compated to Blogger. Any way for readers to post pictures of themselves as comments on blogspot?

  6. I really wish there was a way to have user icons on blogger like on livejournal. I love my icons over there, but I'm not paying again this year just to have an icon collection I don't really use anymore. It would be great to have it here, though!

I also love your pyrex collection!

  7. I have noticed that on the page where you leave comments on Blogger, you can see other Blogger people's icons. Kind of convoluted, but it's there.
And I have been missing the garden and caterpillar posts! Those pictures were always so neat.
I just got home from visiting my grandmother who has Alzheimer's, and I need more pictures of her and me together. She still remembers me and knows who I am, and I don't know if I could handle it if she loses that :(

  9. Oooh, I love Pyrex! Teeny tiny world- my very good friend Linda runs the Pyrex Love site! We've been friends for years & work on Puchi Collective together- http://www.puchicollective.com/

I am certainly open to seeing more than food shots here! I haven't used my LJ in ages, due to blogging now, but I've had them for over 10 years!

  11. That picture of you and your grandma is making me all weepy and emotional! I for one, am all for people blogging about whatever, whenever! Bring on the caterpillars! I've actually slowly begun posting on my livejournal, and I think I'm going to devote it to nostalgia- old photos, memories, etc.

  12. Celine, Suzanne, Bianca, Joolee and BazoooOOOO, thanks for your comments about the picture of me and GM. That picture was from my last visit with her, when her health was failing, and it was just awful to leave, both of us knew we would never see each other again.

Leigh, Jodie, Emmie and Ashley Nicole thanks for props on my Pyrex. I didn't start out as a collector, but I couldn't help myself since they come in such pretty colors! I'll try to post more pictures, since this is just a bit of what I have.

Jenny, do you not have stinging caterpillars in Shreveport??? I can't believe you are professing love of the stinging buckmoth!

Melisser, so cool your good friend started PyrexLove. Tell her I think it's wonderful!

  16. LJ misses you too!!! i hate the lack of comment replies/notification on non-LJ blogs. i read that there's a wordpress plugin to at least have replies stacked (you can reply to individual comments) like LJ does though i doubt the poster would get an email notification. maybe blogger has a plugin too...?

  17. Miss your posts on LJ but am happy to read anything you feel compelled to write here, there, or anywhere. Pyrex, blankets, cooking, NOLA, gardening, caterpillars, recipes -- it's all good!

  18. wow, your pyrex collection is awesome!!! I am a big pyrex fan too. I just can't get enough. I don't really have a good source around here, so I have to look for it when I travel.

I think it's totally cool to branch out beyond recipes. Vegan lifestyle is all good. That includes bugs and pyrex and Grandma. My super cool grandma just died about 6 months ago, and I am still getting used to it.

    :) Amey
